OUR FAMILY

Our family is four, our daughter Julie, the first, and Rick, four years later.  Julie, of course, is the apple of dad's eye, and there's a special something which keeps them especially close.  She and her mom, though, can spend hours discussing life in general and the kind of things that she and dad can't seem to broach.  She has always been an outside person, loves every thing that lives and thus early in life, there grew the strong desire to become a veterinarian.  After earning her BS in Biology at Virginia Tech, her MS in Ecology at Winthrop University, she was accepted into the College of Veterinarian Medicine at the University of Georgia.  She has finished all those years of hard work and has earned her DVM Degree, and is now working in her dream profession.  When the long awaited graduation day from the University of Georgia did finally arrive, dad was there with his camera to snap all the remembrances on film........FOR JULIE'S  GRADUATION DAY activities, CLICK HER GRADUATION PAGE...

In the summer of 2001, she spent a month in the state of Washington doing an internship at a veterinary clinic, a month in Minnesota, attending a seminar in aquatic ecology, and a week in Boston at a veterinary conference.  An accolade to add to her resume is that she was the 1999 President of the Student Chapter of The American Veterinary Medical Association, ie. she was the President of the School.  In the summer of 2000, she was fortunate enough to attend a five week seminar entitled "Envirovet, An Intensive Short Course in Terrestrial Wildlife and Ecosystem Health", in which she learned about the veterinarian's role in environmental conservation.  To read her adventures, click on the   She readily admits it will take her many years to pay off all of her debts.  She now resides in Wilmington, North Carolina in her new home with her two cats, and works in a part-time veterinary facility and also as a traveling/replacement Veterinarian in facilities who need temporary veterinarians.  Since graduation, she has worked as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in a small animal hospital in Ellijay, Georgia, employed as a DVM by a large veterinary hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, worked for the Horry County Environmental Services, Animal Control, as the shelter's veterinarian, and she has also worked with several other facilities in the MB area.

Rick is his dad's reflection, something every father wants in a son; and yet Rick is his own man, with his own determination and goals.  We all thought at one time, that he would follow in his father's footsteps and become a Golf Course Superintendent.  As the daily chore of early morning rising became more difficult for him and for mom and dad, he realized that this was not for him.  He enjoyed the pleasure of working hard, early morning beauty, and playing the game of golf, but the early rising was just too much to bear.  He's a night person, loves the night life and the wee morning hours, gets that from his mom.  Sleeping in late is his number.  He has settled in on a management future, restaurants, clubs, or business.  He's into computers and fantasy football, and presently works as a title and settlement agent in the Virginia and Maryland areas.  After attending two years at Clemson University for his education and having a little too much extra-curricular activities, he did eventually earn two associate degrees in a local junior college.  He lives in his home in Reston, Virginia, along with his wife, Kelly, and their son, Cody John Fairbank, and his mixed black lab, named, Romeo.  In late August 2011, there will be a new addition to their family, a new grand daughter for Nana and Grandpa, pics will be forthcoming.  To view photos of their new son, and our new grandson, I might add, click on CodyJohnFairbank

We are a close family which supports each other, prays for each other, and freely shares our heartfelt love for each other.  As the future unfolds, we look forward to that special closeness we share, even though there may be many miles separating us.  Their future success,  rewards, and health are in our daily prayers...
